Where We Are Headed.
When we began Stories Cafe back in 2013 we couldn’t have imagined the places we would go. In 2015 when we were approved for 501c3 status we knew God was moving us forward. In 2016 when we raised over $30,000 to start a Food Truck we felt the support of all of you and knew that you wanted to see communities fighting injustice as well.
This past June we launched the Freedom Truck and in July – October we spread awareness with a side of great food around the Twin Cities. Our vision that we had back in 2013 of a Cafe where community, awareness and advocacy happens has only gotten stronger. Every step we have taken solidifies that there is much work to be done, we are only getting started.
In 2018 we are excited to be rolling out with the Freedom Truck to more and bigger events. In order to do this we need volunteers. If volunteering inside or outside the truck is something that strikes a chord with you, we want to meet you. Let us know by filling out our Volunteer Interest Form here. We are also excited to use the Freedom Truck as a job skills training ground for survivors of trafficking and those at risk.
Awareness is how we started and awareness is still important today. In 2018 we are excited to produce a curriculum that shines a light on the root causes of human trafficking and sexual violence. If you find yourself asking the questions “Why does human trafficking happen in this society” and “How did we get here?” those are the issue we will address in this curriculum. With opportunity for online training this will widen our reach and leave more people aware and equipped to take on the issue of human trafficking at it’s root.
We are in the pre-launch phase of a new campaign that will officially kick off December 1st. If you want to be a part of what we are doing to fight human trafficking in Minnesota at a deeper level, we need you. Send us a message and you will be one of the first to know about our Sidekick Campaign.
Today is Give to the Max day in Minnesota and Tuesday, November 28 is Giving Tuesday. We would love it if you would consider joining us in this work by donating financially. We have a goal of $1,000 to raise between November 16 and November 28 that will cover the cost of keeping the Freedom Truck out of the snow this winter.
Every person is valuable. This belief is at the heart of what we do at Stories Foundation. We also believe that you don’t want to see human trafficking, sexual violence, the degradation of people and people being sold as a commodity to continually become worse in our communities. That is why we press on.
Thank you for joining us.
